Disturbing.

amandaw:

“The residents feel slighted that a two-year project to replace leaky water pipes focused on Main Street. Those homes, said the black residents, are where mostly white families live, giving the impression that race is a factor in determining where the work is done. “It sends the wrong message,” even if race isn’t a factor, said Michaux. But Josephine Posti, external affairs specialist for PAW, said later that such comments “were disturbing.””

Residents fear racial bias in water project

You’re damn right they’re disturbing. They’re disturbing because of their potential for truth.

How much more respectfully could they have stated things? Seriously? And the company takes offense at the implication of bias. Maybe they should take offense at the possibility that they are slighting paying customers who deserve service that is just as good as the paying customers a mile ‘round the corner who just happen to be white.

Of all of the “disturbing” things, the calling out of apparent prejudice and privilege is not high on my list.
